Tom's Fur and Feathers

Installation, 1996
(22 drawings, textsign, graphite and chalk on wood, 560 x 260 x 300 cm)
After renting a garage the new tenant found a bunch of handwritten phrases concerning a variety of wild animals written on the wooden walls. Prints of their figures were visible as stains in the dust.
It was discovered that the previous tenant of the garage, the truckdriver Tom P. (46), while hauling freight long-distance throughout the US for several years, had started to collect roadkill.
Nailing his trophies on the wall, he commented at the same time on their deaths, making up a story about each one before disappearing.
I 've rendered the prints into stencils and copied the phrases.
